Karen Forester is a board certified Occupational Therapist, a Certified Hand Therapist and an active member of the American Society of Hand Therapists. She graduated with honors from Boston University with a degree in Occupational Therapy. While simultaneously studying French at BU, Karen had the opportunity to do an OT internship in Paris for a semester. Karen has been specializing in hand and upper quadrant rehabilitation for over 15 years. Before joining Shady Grove Center for Sports Medicine, Karen worked at the University of Virginia outpatient hand center treating high level upper extremity trauma cases. She has worked closely with hand surgeons in orthopedic as well as plastic surgery divisions. She is highly experienced in treating a wide range of upper quadrant injuries and has a special interest in evaluating and treating trauma including burns, tendon and nerve lacerations, tendon transfers, amputations, replantations and complex fractures. When not at work, Karen enjoys art, being a Francophile and traveling with her family.
